A helper at Temba ashram faculty within the Thane district’s Shahapur area was arrested on August 26 for allegedly molesting 22 minor feminine college students, a police official stated on Friday (August 28, 2026).
The cook dinner recognized as Ganpat Gavli (35) is allegedly a repeat offender. In line with Thane police, in 2024, he allegedly sexually molested a lady at one other ashram shala. Gavli was on bail within the earlier case when he joined Shahapur ashram shala as helper to the cook dinner.
On August 24, a Tenth-grade scholar raised a grievance towards Ganpat, saying Gavli cornered her and tried to sexually assault her. “21 different women got here ahead, elevating the indecent behaviour of the accused throughout the investigation,” a Thane police official stated. He was arrested on Wednesday (Aug 26, 2026).
Police have filed a case below the Safety of Youngsters from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and arrested the accused. The Built-in Tribal Improvement Challenge (ITDP) officer Tejaswini R. Galande, stated, “The accused is a repeated offender and beforehand labored at an ashram faculty in Aghai. He was 10 months away from his retirement.”
Earlier than becoming a member of the ashram faculty in Temba, he was working at Moroshi Ashram faculty in Murbad. Police are investigating as to who appointed him, and why he was appointed regardless of having a legal file.
